The Ordinary was founded by Brandon Truaxe in 2016 with the aim of making skincare more transparent and accessible. Working from Toronto, the brand put ingredient names at the front of its products and adopted a pared-back visual identity. A bottle labelled with niacinamide or hyaluronic acid makes the formulation part of the conversation. That directness is the distinctive idea here: inviting people to look more closely at what is on the label.
